Mt. Hood Summit

"The end of the ridge and the end of the world... then nothing but that clear, empty air. There was nowhere else to climb. I was standing on the top of the world."

Stacy Allison,
Reach the Summit Event Chair and the First American Woman to Summit Mt. Everest

With the American Lung Association’s Reach The Summit program, you have the opportunity to climb your choice of three of the region's most magnificent mountains while you support the American Lung Association.

Mt. Hood, elevation 11,239 feet.

Grand Teton, elevation 13,770 feet.

Mt. Adams, elevation 12,276.

Ecuador: Cayambe, elevation elevation 18,993 feet, and Cotopaxi, elevation 19,347 feet. View pictures and read about our last expedition to Ecuador!

Reach the Summit is an exclusive mountaineering training and fundraising program designed to give you the training, technical support, and guide services you need to reach the top of these magnificent mountains safely, while helping the American Lung Association eradicate lung disease. As a Reach the Summit climber, you will have the opportunity to participate in training hikes with a team of like-minded climbers. You will also attend safety, gear and alpine climbing technique clinics, before beginning your two or three day climb with some of the most highly trained alpine guides in the region. Additionally, the American Lung Association will provide a pre-climb team dinner and lodging at the base of each mountain to start you on your journey.

Reach the Summit is open to people of all levels who are ready to take on the challenge of summiting a mountain. On your climb, you will be joined by eager novices, some enthusiastic mountaineers and highly trained alpine climbing guides. Together, your team will train, motivate one another and provide important advice to make your climb as much fun as possible.

Mt. Hood Summit

“I can share that, within the moment of the last five steps to the summit, and the five deep breaths of air it took to make them, was one of the most powerful and satisfying experiences of my lifetime."

Ed Neumann
